Shig Nakamoto and Donna were in Ottawa last weekend visiting the Nakamoto-Berry's. Shig completed the wiring in the new bathroom and Craig and Sara got some free time on both days! On Sunday, everyone enjoyed a lovely brunch at the Courtyard with live guitar music and some excellent food and company.

Sources at the Ministry of Natural Resources have confirmed that at least two brave souls managed to paddle/portage in to some of the most famous Speckled Trout lakes in the Algonquin Interior for the opening day of trout season in the park. Unfortunately, the ice was out late this Spring, and only cleared off the lakes the day before, which was not too good for the fishing prospects.

Shig and Craig Nakamoto paddled across Rock Lake and Pen Lake for about 10km, directly in to a gusty headwind late Friday afternoon. They finished the third and longest portage (2100m) in to Welcome Lake in the dark, around 9pm. Paddling between the last two portages was upstream, along the swollen Galipo River.

On Saturday morning the two fishermen headed in to Harry's and Rence Lakes to try their luck with fishing on opening day. Fortunately, after lunch they decided to head back to camp to enjoy the sun on the beach. By the time they reached Welcome Lake again, the wind picked up and they just made it back to camp and set up a rain shelter before the strong winds, thunderstorm, rain, and hail hit.

With nothing else left to do, it was time to break out the last of the wine and grill up supper!

All in all it was a great trip!

Gram and Bryan enjoyed a lovely visit to Ottawa over Easter Weekend to attend a wedding and hang out with the Nakamoto-Berry family. A great time was had by all!

Sage had a blast with her new wig.

We saw some hot chicks at the Agriculture Museum (at the Experimental Farm).

There are more pictures of hot chicks in the photo gallery.

After cutting short their Christmas vacation early, the Nakamoto/Berry family re-arranged a few appointments on their day traveling home and managed to have a quick visit with Craig's auntie Eiko and uncle Marco. As luck would have it, their son Michael and his daughter Mariko happened to be at the house when they arrived.
